Photography & Social Media Posts
A video posted on the Move-in Day (Aug 30) to welcome new students
About the Project
Wentworth Institute of Technology is a technology university in Boston with five schools focused on Engineering, Computing, Design and Management.
During my internship at the school’s Communication Department, I took photos for important events, managed the school’s official Instagram account, and reported campus news.

Impact & Learnings
We achieved a 20% increase in Instagram followers within five months, growing from 3,000 to 3,600. Through this social media channel, we provided students with insights into campus life and fostered a stronger connection with their school.
I think three major strategies contributed to our success:
-
Event Promotion and Engagement:
To better promote campus events and drive engagement, we posted previews before the events, shared real-time Instagram stories during them, and uploaded photos immediately afterward.
-
High-Quality Visuals:
Recognizing that photo quality is crucial for Instagram traffic, I focused on capturing the most engaging moments. Additionally, I interviewed attendees to gain insights and interesting details about each event, enriching my post content.
-
Audience-Centric Content:
It’s essential to consider the audience's interests and needs when planning social media content. Our primary audience was students, so we shared announcements about career fairs and study abroad programs to keep them informed. To help foster a sense of belonging, we created welcoming videos to greet new students.
